Although she never won AA honours at a major international competition, Baitova came close many times. At the 1987 World Championships alone, Baitova earned the ubiquitous title of "Queen of Fourth Place," finishing 4th in the AA, vault, uneven bars, and floor exercise.

In 1988, at the Seoul Olympics, Baitova's role as an all-arounder was replaced by the new Soviet phenom Natalia Laschenova. Baitova performed well however, contributing to the Soviet's gold medal in the team competition.

Baitova traveled with her teammates to Stuttgart for the 1989 World Championships. Rumour has it that she was the official alternate, but was bumped up to competitive status when the head of the team decided to pull Natalia Kalinina from the competitive line up. At these Worlds, the Soviets once again won team gold.

Baitova retired sometime after the 1989 World Championships. Years later (1998) she appeared as a member of the International Snow Flyers (see photo, right), a group that participates in shows for Sea World during the summer months. Also joining her in the show were fellow Belorussians Olga and Yulia Yurkina.

Today Baitova lives is Belarus, and is married with one son (Sasha). She is a coach and choreographer at the Youth sport school No. 6.

Baitova was born on September 3, 1972.
